This year as well, we are supporting the WEIL association in our Christmas campaign. In suicide prevention, WEIL addresses a topic that is all too often shrouded in silence. Every young life saved through WEIL’s work is a wonderful success that can only arise through our attention.

WEIL – Further in Life offers free online counseling for suicidal children and teenagers.

To provide (data) secure counseling, specialized consulting software is required. The donation covers the costs for the beranet consulting platform, making online counseling technically feasible.

Since October 1, 2023, regulation (EU) 2023/956 concerning the CO₂ Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) has been in effect.

Since October 1, 2023, regulation (EU) 2023/956 concerning the CO₂ Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) has been in effect. This regulation applies to all EU importers, who must meet the reporting requirements by January 2024. After the end of the transition period in December 2025, additional reporting requirements must be fulfilled starting January 2026, and so-called CBAM certificates must be acquired.

What exactly does this mean?

To achieve its climate goals and counter the risk of shifting CO₂ emissions to countries with less stringent climate regulations, the EU introduced the CO₂ Border Adjustment Mechanism. This instrument is designed to calculate and compensate for the CO₂ emissions of carbon-intensive products imported into the EU, encouraging environmentally friendly production in third countries.
The mechanism initially applies to imports of the following products and materials:

  • Cement
  • Iron and steel
  • Aluminum
  • Fertilizers
  • Electricity and hydrogen

As registered CBAM importers, we ensure the continuous efficiency of our supply chains. Additionally, we use the data collected through CBAM to evaluate our suppliers as part of supply chain management. Together, we aim to make production processes less emission-intensive and minimize CO₂ emissions.

After a two-year break, the largest construction trade fair in southern Austria took place again – and TENZ participated for the first time.

The trade fair was held for the 38th time, offering everything a homebuilder needs for their individual construction phase. At every stage of the house-building process, attendees could find the right partners for financing, building materials, interior or garden design – and, of course, screws!

TENZ Energy-Saving Screw at the Häuslbauermesse

We presented our TENZ wood screw with the TENZ Stairs thread technology. At the on-site screwing station, visitors could experience for themselves the clear difference between a standard screw and a TENZ screw… and it convinced them!

The Outdoor Screw with its colored anti-rust coating was also a hit. It is the cost-effective alternative to stainless steel screws for outdoor use.

The crowd-puller at the stand was MAVOX – the ultra-strong magnetic bit. This bit holds up to 1 kg, ensuring screws stay securely attached to the bit for a long time.

7 million screws for reconstruction in Ukraine

Screws do not only connect workpieces! They connect people! The Austrian company TENZ donates more than 7 million screws for the reconstruction of Ukraine. A cross-border project that points the way forward throughout Europe.
According to the current state of affairs, around 130,000 houses, 2,400 schools and 400 businesses have been partially or completely destroyed. 750 billion US dollars would be needed to rebuild Ukraine. In order to take a step into the future and help the crisis-ridden region, the Austrian screw manufacturer TENZ is donating 7.2 million screws.

Even if current news makes reconstruction move into the background – people are also looking to the future. Unimaginable amounts of destruction have to be removed. People need perspectives. TENZ felt the desire to support the people in Ukraine early on. In the spring of 2022, a campaign was launched: an amount of 50 cents was donated for each box sold. Due to the positive response and the desire to help the people, the campaign was expanded.

In the end, 7.2 million screws were donated – buildings, schools and businesses are to be built up with them as quickly as possible. In a region where forestry and the raw material wood play an important role, the screws are of great significance.

Federal Agency for Technical Relief Germany as partner for the distribution of the screw donation

Handling such a large amount of material donations is a challenge. Many aid organisations concentrate on monetary donations and their distribution as part of humanitarian aid. Smaller donation associations were overwhelmed with the volume.

The Federal Agency for Technical Relief Germany (THW) was found to be the ideal partner for the donation of TENZ. Emergency repair has already begun in cooperation with local partner organisations, where the screws will be used.

The cooperation with THW guarantees that TENZ’s generous donation of screws will actually reach the people who need support.
The THW helps the population worldwide in emergencies and disasters with technology and know-how. The THW’s area of operation ranges from assistance in natural disasters to ongoing support in connection with the Ukraine conflict.

Supporting reconstruction – starting initiatives

In view of the dimension of the task, the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz calls the reconstruction of Ukraine a “task for generations”. The entire TENZ team had a hand in preparing the wood screws to make their contribution.

TENZ would like to contribute to the reconstruction with its aid delivery and also motivate other companies to start their own activities.

Instead of Christmas mail, screw manufacturer TENZ donates to WEiL again this year. Acting instead of looking the other way when it comes to young people at risk of suicide.
Many have become desperate due to the ongoing pandemic. Especially the psychological effects of the crisis & the group of young people are largely lost in the public discussion. Therefore, the Styrian screw manufacturer TENZ donates to the aid organisation WEiL. There, young people at risk of suicide receive free support.
The aim was to do good together with customers in these challenging times. This was achieved by allowing each customer to decide for themselve in a survey: For every Christmas card not printed, TENZ will donate an amount of EUR 5 to charity. The feedback from the customers was overwhelming, because the desire to do something meaningful and at the same time conserve resources is very great, especially this year. The great feedback motivated TENZ to double the amount saved by the customers and donate it to Weil.

WEIL stands for “Weiter im Leben / Go on with your life”The organisation has been active in suicide prevention for young people up to the age of 25, their relatives and friends for many years. All services offered by WEIL are free of charge and can be used anonymously. The staff members have training in the psychosocial field, work on a voluntary basis and are sworn to secrecy. Online consultation has been a central offer at WEiL for several years.Due to the ongoing crisis and the restricted freedom of movement, this channel of communication was one of the few possibilities for many of those affected to get help. The number of enquiries via the online platform has increased significantly, because the stress on young people in this situation is enormous.

Further training for the volunteers

In order to do good suicide prevention work, ongoing training is necessary. The following training courses were made possible by the last donation in 2021:
  • Basics of crisis intervention for 3 new staff members
  • (Online) participation in the International Suicide Prevention Conference in Australia for the whole team
  • Traumatisation in children and adolescents for 2 staff members
  • Transgender conference TRANS*Inter*Divers* Leoben for 1 employee

Operating costs of the online consulting platform

WEIL – Weiter im Leben offers free online counselling for children and young people at risk of suicide. In order to be able to provide (data)secure counselling, special counselling software is required. The donation will cover the costs for the counselling platform beranet and thus makes online counselling technically possible.

World Suicide Prevention Day

10 September is World Suicide Prevention Day. This day is intended to draw attention to the issue and raise awareness among the population. WEIL has been organising different activities at the WSPD for years to talk to people about this topic. In previous years, stands were operated in Herrengasse or Citypark, where the work of the association is presented.

Terrace Dream with Austria Premiere

TENZ Outdoor Screws were used for the first time in Austria on a heartfelt project in Western Styria.

A project full of passion and technical finesse. For an enthusiastic DIYer from Western Styria, we imported our Deckmate Screws from the USA.

Josef V.’s terrace is a cozy spot in the beautiful region of Western Styria and is particularly noteworthy for its intricate construction. Plastic feet were avoided for environmental reasons and were replaced with recycled building materials.

When it came to fastening, he was also searching for a good and affordable alternative to stainless steel screws or terrace screws – and he found it. He wanted brown screws, which were not yet available in the TENZ Outdoor Line, so the product was specially imported from the USA. This allowed the terrace to be the first in Austria built with these innovative screws.

The special coating in two colors (four colors in the USA) not only provides an almost invisible appearance but is also a special corrosion protection, making the screws highly weather-resistant.

What was most important to you in your project?

Josef: It was important for me to do everything myself and achieve an optimal balance between price and performance. Stainless steel and plastic screws are a real cost factor, so I looked for better alternatives.

What has your experience been with our screws?

Josef: Only good – they go easily into the wood, even the long TENZ screws for the substructure fit perfectly. Pre-drilling really isn’t necessary, which saves time, and the screws sink cleanly. I especially liked the lifetime warranty.

Your tip for other screw users?

Josef: Buy TENZ, the quality is great, the price is right, and I loved the design from the very beginning.

Success in the USA

TENZ Outdoor Screw – The Alternative to Stainless Steel Screws

Since September 2021, the Outdoor Line has been available in Austria. Its special feature is the anti-rust coating, which makes it suitable for outdoor use. This makes it a cost-effective alternative to stainless steel screws, terrace screws, and rustproof products.

The coating colors are tailored to the wood types most commonly used, such as spruce or pressure-treated beams. This allows the screws to either visually disappear or be used as a deliberate contrast.

Thus, the ambitious project was able to benefit from the innovative screws in multiple ways – and it turned out beautifully!

Tenzo - Our heraldic animal and its art of connecting things.

This year, everyone is especially looking forward to summer – and Austria as a holiday destination remains the focus of many visitors. To offer something special, an innovative idea was born and implemented during the crisis: The avalanche gallery on the Riesner alp was converted into an exhibition space as part of the “Avalanche [GALLERY] – at the peak of art” campaign. The metal artist @geisi.junkart received a load of screws with the task of creating a work of art from them. The result is impressive: the Styrian panther made of screws – which also appears in the company’s logo and is lovingly called “TENZO”.
